Savings deposits

The impact of the fundamental change in savings patterns is particularly noticeable in the development of savings deposits. Savings deposits have been falling for some time now. Above all, a considerable volume of funds has been withdrawn from long-term savings schemes and “traditional” savings accounts (with a three-month period of notice). In contrast, there has been an increase in the diverse forms of short-term savings deposits paying an interest bonus (“special savings facilities”). These are quite attractive compared to both “normal” savings deposits and other investment vehicles such as Federal government bonds or notes.
